There are times when the providers of Social Work services need to bring in skills, qualifications and experience that they cannot easily deploy from their own resources hence our offer to work with you to deliver the service that you require.
Equally there are times when Higher Education Institutions and the providers of Social Work Practice Placements require the input of trusted professionals such as in BCC.
We work with Service Users and Carers direct to help them understand better the assessment or review process that they are embarking on and how they may play an active part in that, ensuring that they receive the benefit of the developing case-law that is emerging from the courts in our Human Rights-aware age.
BCC is Liz and Richard Bartholomew.
Liz is a Registered Social Worker, an Independent Practice Educator with the Practice Teacher’s Award with experience of Practice Education with individual students as well as of supporting ASYE practitioners through their 1st year in practice. She led training courses in Stage 1 & Stage 2 Practice Education for Bournemouth University providing both mentoring and assessment to candidates.
Richard is a Registered Social Worker with the Advanced Award in Social Work. He is a Stage 2 Practice Educator as well as an Independent Social Worker and Best Interest Assessor. A Lecturer in a BA Social Work Programme, he also obtained the MSc in Advanced Social Work from Cardiff University. Richard acted as an Independent Chairperson for the NHS for Appeals on NHS Continuing Health Care.
BCC provides Stage 1/2 Practice Education of Social Work Students on placement, the mentoring of ASYE Social Workers and Independent Social Work with adults including Independent Advocacy under the Care Act. We also conduct Best Interest Assessments for Service Users subject to Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
In addition we chair Practice Assessment Panels for Social Work Programmes and are involved in Foster Panels making recommendations regarding Fostering applications and reviews.
We also are involved in delivering training on current issues in Social Work law and practice and on an Adults Safeguarding Board. We also work on hospital discharge and NHS Continuing Health Care issues.
Richard & Liz are both Registered with Social Work England.
Richard is a member of the British Association of Social Workers as an Independent Social Worker.
